Join us on Thursday, September 25, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the BmoreArt Connect + Collect Gallery for the closing event of current exhibit Close Enough, an exhibition featuring the work of Aliana Grace Bailey and Brandon J. Donahue-Shipp.
To mark the close of this beautiful show, we’re hosting a conversation with Maureen Nicol and Yewande Kotun Davis, two Baltimore-based creatives whose practices center care, community, and the transformative power of storytelling.
Maureen is the founder of Our House Baltimore, a multigenerational space designed to nurture caregivers and children through play, wellness, and intentional community. Her work bridges culture, education, and design to create spaces where families feel supported and seen.
Yewande is an interdisciplinary artist and creative wellness facilitator whose paintings, murals, and community projects reimagine narratives of Black women’s labor by centering joy, rest, and inner child healing. Through her initiative, Resolute Rose, she creates both artworks and restorative experiences that invite reflection and connection.
Together, they will reflect on what it means for artists and cultural workers to nurture themselves while navigating the demands of caregiving, family, and community building.
This program will be a space for open dialogue, reflection, and connection, asking:
– How do artists and cultural workers take care of themselves while caring for others?
– What kinds of support do creatives who are parents or caregivers need?
– How do we build sustainable models for joy, rest, and collective well-being?
We invite you to gather with us in closing this exhibition, celebrating both the work on view and the many ways our creative communities continue to care for one another.
